Panglao is an island municipality of the province of Bohol that initially became popular to SCUBA divers back in the 80’s. The discovery of Balciasag island generated the arrival of SCUBA divers from different parts of the world. Its crystal-clear water, spectacular walls, lush coral reefs and amazing fish life intrigued many local and international recreational divers, including tour operators and foreign investors. Eventually, Panglao made its mark in the international diving map and this may be attributed to several dive operators that marketed the place in order to tap this niche market segment. Panglao however became a destination for other market segments. afterall, it is a sun sea and sand holiday destination, with its long stretch of white sandy beaches that are fringed with tall coconut trees.
